Obituary of Marie Caroline Plowman

Plowman, Marie Caroline (Beard), 97, E. Wheatfield Twp. Born on January 9, 1917 in Johnstown the daughter of the late William and Lila (Graham) Beard. Died peacefully on November 3, 2014 at LaurelWood Care Center in Johnstown surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Melvin Plowman, also brother Ralph Beard and sisters Verta Mae Liebel, Joyce and Janet Beard. She is survived by sons Ronald and wife Carol (Richardson), Richard and wife Kathleen (Richardson) and Kenneth and wife Nancy (Fry), grandchildren LeAnn (Kevin) Hess, Thomas (Ellen) Plowman, Darryl Plowman, Rhonda (Mario) Ugoletti, Daniel (Sue) Plowman, Mark Plowman and Jessica (Adam) Gerasimek; great-grandchildren Amanda; Tamera; Andrew; Matthew; Allison; Leah; Alexis; Olivia; Wade; Sarah and Aeris; and great-great grandchildren Caleb, Cora, Carter and Paige; sisters Wilma Sloughfy, Jean Miller and Thelma (Eugene) Jones, many nieces and nephews. Marie loved her God, her family and her church, in which she served as church pianist for over 60 years, choir pianist, Sunday School teacher, VBS director, WSCS president and many other positions where needed. She was a member of the United Area Lions Club and assisted in running the family farm and worked at the United Elementary School Cafeteria until her retirement. She will be remembered for her good cooking and the enjoyment she got from doing ceramics. She was greatly loved and will be missed by many. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh and 10 till time of service at 11 AM Thursday at Blacklick Community United Methodist Church, 1488 Bracken Road, Vintondale. Pastor Tom Phillips officiating.
