Obituary of Brenda L Zello

Brenda L Zello, 70, Brush Valley passed away March 6, 2015 Beacon Ridge Manor. Born March 22, 1944 in Johnstown daughter of the late Russell J "Jake" and the late Florence M (McCullough) Lichtenfels. Like many babies born during WWII Brenda first met her father at the age of 16 months. She attended Wehrem Elementary school, graduated from United High School then graduated from IUP Teachers College with a BS in Elementary Education. She spent her life working with or for children. Initially she taught kindergarten at Wehrem Elementary then at United Elementary School. Eventually she became a homemaker and mother while still substitute teaching and contributing many hours to United JR/SR High School PTA Committee and UHS band boosters. In the community she was a cub-scout den leader, Talus Rock Girl Scout unit director and council trainer, established annual "Calendar Party" events, organize Kids Games at BV Days, direct, teach and contribute to VBS, Easter egg hunts and Halloween parades. Once her family was grown she donated much of time as an active member at "Brush Valley United Methodist Church." She help co-found, direct and substitute teach at "Brush Valley United Methodist Pre-School" where she served on the pre-school board for over 26 years. She served as both president and secretary within the "Women's group at BVUMC" where she also help cook funeral and community dinners. Most recently she helped with BV Coat of Many Colors. Brenda's additional passions included spending time in the outdoors and camping, traveling in tour groups and to see the family. Some of travels include trips to Grand Canyon, San Antonio, Florida, Yellow Stone, Glacier National Park. Brenda took pride in her flower and vegetable gardens and ejoyed canning the vegetables and making apple butter along with all cooking especially "Brenda's Famous" spaghetti sauce and cookies. IF her hands were not busy cooking or spending time in her gardens she would be doing some type of craft, painting, sewing or quilting. Her loves were her six grandchildren and her church family. Survived by husband Richard Zello; children Richard J. Zello and wife Lorinne, Selma, TX; Tammy L Zello, Newark, DE; and Susan M. Pisarcik, Indiana; grandchildren Joshua, Benjamin and Grace Zello; Emily N. Comer-Zello; Kristen and Samantha Pisarcik; brother Gary Lichtenfels and wife Dorothy, Seward. Friends received 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh, Service will be 11 AM Wednesday at Brush Valley United Methodist Church, 180 Valley View Road, Brush Valley. Rev. Richard C Russell officiating. Internment Armagh Cemetery.
