Obituary of Fern A. Glessner

Fern Arlene (Allen) Glessner, 80 of Glen Allen, Va., formerly of New Florence, Pa., went to be with the Lord September 17, 2015. Born December 15, 1934 in Johnstown, the daughter of the late John F. and Lucetta A. (Jeschonek) Allen. Fern is survived by her husband of 59 years Bill. Three children, William A. III and wife Carleen (Sullivan), Arizona, Gregory J and wife Louella (Lewis), Glen Allen, Va. and Randy J. of Henrico, VA. Four Grandchildren, William IV and Arlene E. of Arizona, Catherine Ann, Glen Allen, Va. and Brian G. Glen Allen, Va. Two Great Grandchildren, Conor Harris and Alexis Harris, Glen Allen, Va. Sister Joyce (Allen) Triska and husband Robert; Sister-in-law Alice Mader and many nieces and nephews. Before meeting her husband, Fern worked 2 ½ years for Newman-Stern Sports, Cleveland, Ohio. After meeting Bill, she came home and they married May 19, 1956. She worked for National Radiator for 4 years. She loved her boys and husband enough to stay home and work part-time working for New Florence Borough Water Co. for a while. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in New Florence for 55 years. Fern loved to cook, bake, crochet and did some painting. She and Bill bowled on the Church League for quite a few years. Her favorite thing was to visit and spend time with her boys and grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 PM Monday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence, Pa. where service will be 11 AM Tuesday. Rev. Rodney Murray officiating. Internment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
