Obituary of Donald E. Ludwig

Ludwig, Donald E. "Buckeye", 80, New Florence, passed away October 31, 2015 at Loyalhanna Care Center, Latrobe. Born October 10, 1935 in Johnstown the son of late Carl "Dutch" and Edna (Syster) Ludwig. Also preceded in death by brother pfc James Ludwig who was KIA in Korea; sisters Anna Ruth Wilkinson and Shirley Hepner. Survived by wife of 47 years Georgia (DeWeese) Ludwig; son Bob and wife Buffy and their children Dace and fiancé Shadiya, Kyra, and Jaxon; son Rick and special friend Jenny Fike and step-daughter Candice; son Greg "Pencil" and wife Nikki and their children Ryleigh, Owen and Hudson; son Jim and wife Carlene and their son Adam; son Randy and wife Deb and their children Brandi, Corey, Christopher, Branston and Braxton, daughter Lorrie McGraw and husband Mike, and their children Erin and Craig; numerous great-grandchildren; twin sister Donna Rocker, brother Jack and wife Arlene. Buckeye worked for Sam Ford for 23 years building and remolding many houses in the New Florence and surrounding area. He worked for New Florence Boro for 26 years, serving as foreman for 23 years before finally retiring permanently at age 79. Buckeye enjoyed, drinking coffee, making people smile, working with his hands, especially at "The Property" and his family, especially his grandchildren. Friends received from 2-8 pm Monday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., Service and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the New Florence Recreation Board to place a memorial for Buckeye and help with expenses at the New Florence playground.
