Obituary of Genevieve Chesla Fabrizio

Genevieve L. Chesla Fabrizio, 80, resident of St. Anne in Greensburg, was called home on August 21, the day of the solar eclipse. She was one who liked the sun, to sit outside and feel the warmth of its rays, host her annual Fourth of July picnic, or vacation in sunny spots like Florida and Hawaii. Genevieve, known as Jiggs or Jenny was born in Climax, PA on December 24, 1936 and raised in the New Florence area. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Anthony Fabrizio in 1960. They moved to Michigan and were employed by Ford Motor Co. Genevieve was an active member of St. Anthony's parish in Belleville, Michigan and spearheaded their Strawberry Festival and was a faithful member of the Ladies Guild. Upon the passing of Tony, her husband of more than 40 years, Genevieve moved back to New Florence. She renovated her childhood home on Chesla's Hills, decorating it with art that she had painted. Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Anna (Barbus) Chesla, husband Anthony, brother Carl Chesla and sister, Theresa (Chesla) Gorman. She is survived by and will be deeply missed by her brother, Edward Chesla (Jeanne); sister-in-law, Avice Chesla; brother-in-law, David Gorman. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 24, 4pm-7pm, at the Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 25, at 10am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 425 Bridge St., Seward. Rev. Robert Washko officiating. Officiated Interment Armagh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please offer of mass for Genevieve at Holy Family Church.
