Obituary of Margaret Aileen Plowman

Plowman, Margaret “Margie” Aileen (Bracken), 99, Vintondale (Gas Center) went to be with the Lord August 28, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her family.  Born April 28, 1918 in East Wheatfield Twp., she was the youngest child of Austin T. and Margaret (Bowers) Bracken.  She attended school in Wehrum and Armagh.  After graduation from Armagh High School she worked as a telephone operator in Vintondale.  Later she worked with her sister Ethel who owned a restaurant in Johnstown.  They watched the 1936 flood from their home.  She married Virgil Plowman on June 17, 1938, and they raised their children in the house he built for them.  Margie was a lifelong member of Blacklick Community United Methodist Church.  She taught Sunday School and sang in the choir until she developed ARMD.  She was very active in the Women’s Society, and was always ready to help with whatever was needed.  She was a very loving and giving wife, mother and grandmother.  She loved playing the piano and she enjoyed traveling and would never miss an opportunity to drive to New Jersey, Ohio or Texas to visit the grandkids.  After her husband died she spent winters in Florida with the family.  She made good use of her season pass to Disney World.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Virgil in 2004, ending a marriage of almost 66 years.  A son Raymond died in a car accident in 1963. Also preceding her were her brothers Twinam and Milford; sisters Ethel McMullen, Cora Roberts and Thelma Berkebile.  She is survived by five children, Carol Jean (Jack) Garvin; Ross (Jeri) Plowman; William (Bonnie) Plowman; Aileen McDowell; Nancy (Jon) Rodkey; and 12 grandchildren.  Cheryl (Joe) Yaworski; Margie (Reek) Allison; Sheila (Lisa) Plowman; Rosslyn (Jeff) Pierce; David; Frank; Brian (Cindy)Plowman; Beth Plowman; John V.
