Obituary of Richard Zello

Richard Zello, 81, of Brush Valley, PA, passed away on January 24, 2025, at St. Andrew’s Village having battled Multiple Myeloma. Born March 20, 1943, in Kenwood, PA the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Sapara) Zello. Preceded in death by his wife Brenda (Lichtenfels) Zello whom he married on October 15, 1966, and sisters Dorothy Flanagan and Mary Lou Popson.

Survived by children Richard J. Zello and wife Loriann of Selma, TX; Tammy L. Zello Miller and husband Jonathan of Middletown, DE; Susan M. David and husband Michael of Blairsville, PA; grandchildren Joshua Zello and wife Hannah with great granddaughter Avery of Baltimore, MD; Benjamin Zello of Burbank, CA; Grace Collins and husband Landon of New Braunfels, TX; Emily Comer-Zello of Palmetto Bay, FL; Kristen Pisarcik of Newark, DE; Samantha Pisarcik and fiancé Dakota Jarvie of Indiana, PA; brother George Zello of Erie, PA; sister Betty Ann Barr of Deland, FL.

Rich was a member of the Brush Valley Community Church, a U.S. Army veteran and retiree of Fisher Scientific. He and his wife Brenda were proud parents and grandparents and enjoyed a life of service helping others within the church and community, while experiencing travel by RVing, bus tours and road trips.  He was an avid vegetable and flower gardener, lawn-keeper, wood worker, crafter and fisherman.  Rich appreciated socializing at the Armagh Senior Center, where he served as the chapter’s representative.  He also spent time with friends attending concerts in the park, hymn-sings, festivals and charity dinners across the local area. Throughout the years he volunteered with Brush Valley Food Bank, Brush Valley Days and with many other church and community events.  

Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 28th between 4 and 8 PM at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh, PA.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 29th at 11 AM at the Brush Valley Community Church, 200 Valley View Road, Brush Valley, PA with Rev. Mark A. Griffith officiating.  Interment will be at Armagh, PA Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Brush Valley Community Church.

At Richard’s request, in lieu of flower donations, please make memorial donations to one of his favorite charities: United Food Pantry located at Brush Valley Fire Hall, the Salvation Army located at 635 Water Street, Indiana, PA or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on the www.stjude.org webpage.
