Obituary of Robert E. Sombronski

Robert E Sombronski, 88, of Armagh, passed away January 29, 2025, at Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born November 12, 1936, in Windber Pa to John and Mary (Koreltz) Sombronski. He was a member of St Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church where he spent many days working on the church and getting ready for the festivals where he was known as the pierogi guy.  US Navy veteran serving on the USS Essex.  He is retired from Seward Power Plant. He was a member of Sandy Bottom Sportsman’s Club, and he also loved fly fishing and hunting. He is survived by his loving wife of over 63 years Kathleen (Swirchack) sons Michael and wife Bonnie, Steven and wife Jamie. Son in law Troy Tomes. Grandchildren Tabitha Clark, Kevin Sombronski (Lauren), Kenny Clark, Rachel and Jacob Sombronski. He also has 2 great-grandchildren, Haisley and Jameson Sombronski.  He is proceeded in death by his parents, brother Jake, and his daughter Cynthia (Clark)Tomes.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh where Prasatas will be held 3 pm Sunday.  Funeral Service will be held 10 Monday at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 410 Power St., Johnstown.  Rev. Timothy Farris celebrant.  Interment Armagh Cemetery with military honors.  

Special thanks to the VA home health nurses and Conemaugh Home Health for all the time and effort they put in helping Robert.
