Obituary of Thomas Joseph DeStefano

Thomas J DeStefano, 68, of Armagh (New Florence) passed away at his home on Thursday, February 27, 2025, after a short battle with lung cancer.

Born and raised in Pottsville, PA, he is the son of late Andrew A. and Loreta (Nicolo) DeStefano. 

Tom served (6 years) in the Navy submarine service, as well as his father Andrew; his 4 brothers; and his son Karl.

Tom became a Physician Assistant after graduating from St Francis in 1998.  He worked as a surgical PA for 10 years in Pottsville followed by running a Johns Hopkins University health clinic at the Pepsi plant in Johnstown, PA.  He retired in 2023 to enjoy time with his family as well as to work on his many hobbies/interests.

Preceding him in death were his sister Josephine "Josie" Shappell (2001), and his brother Charles "Chuck" DeStefano (2004).

Surviving is his loving wife Kari DeStefano, children Andrea L DeStefano, Heather M. DeStefano, Quasar (Rachel DeStefano) Surprise (October), and Karl J DeStefano (Lauren) as well as grandchildren Miles and Marceline DeStefano and Jinx and Fox Surprise. Siblings Theresa (DeStefano) Carodisky, Andrew DeStefano (Charlotte), Mario DeStefano (Kathy), Patricia (Patti DeStefano) Agia (Michael), James (Jimmy) DeStefano (Jennifer).

Rather than a memorial at this time, there will be a large yard party at his home this summer per his wishes.  Details at a later date.
