Obituary of Leona Grace Howe
Leona (Garland) Howe aka “Nonie”, 96, West Bolivar passed away peacefully January 28, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. Born January 5, 1925 in West Bolivar the daughter of late Joseph and Vesta (Muir) Garland. Also preceded by husband Joseph who she married on June 9, 1946 and who passed away on January 19, 1992, and her siblings Doris St. Clair, Lee J. Garland and Donald Rex Garland.
Survived by sister Jo-Ann Riddell, children Andrea Perkin and husband James, Patricia Susan Howe, Michael L. Howe and wife Rita Thompson, and Tracy S. Howe and wife Donna; grandchildren Kevin and Barb Ritenour, DeAnn and John Marinelli, Shannon and Seth Mack, Owen Howe, Erin Howe, Zachary Howe, Christopher Howe, Stephanie and Daniel Gafford, Nathan Howe, Adrian Varner, Clinton Varner, Clayton and Jodi Varner, Pauline Varner, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Leona worked at the Ollie Henderson Store in Bolivar. A full-time housewife, mother, and caregiver. She always kept a meticulous house and loved to update her décor and accessories. A woman of unseen inner strength, grace and discipline. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. The family would like to thank Leona’s caregivers, Lori and Cheryl. They would also like to thank the wonderful caregivers from Excela Home Care and Hospice, Area Agency on Aging, Community Resources for Independence, Meals on Wheels, and Diagnostic Associates.
