Obituary of Frank A. Shatzer

Frank A. Shatzer, 73, New Florence, passed away at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center on August 13, 2013. He was born January 29, 1940 in Altoona the son of the late Palmer and Hattie (Miller) Shatzer, and married Patricia (Stultz) Shatzer on February 16, 1962 in Indialantic, Florida, a loving marriage of 51 years. In addition to being survived by his wife, Frank has a daughter Melanie, who lived in Pittsburgh, and a brother, Donald “Dutch”, who lives in Rockledge, Florida, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Joseph, Wayne, Elmo, and Francis Shatzer and sister Shirley Weaver. Frank graduated from Williamsburg H.S., Williamsburg, PA, class of 1957 and attended Lock Haven University. Prior to retiring from Penelec Conemaugh Generating Station, he was employed by Martin-Marietta and The Boeing Co. at Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center. Frank was a member of the Seward United Methodist Church, F&AM Lodge #143, Melbourne, FL, and the Orlando Consistory of the Scottish Rite Bodies. Frank was an avid fan of the Pirates, Steelers, Penguins, Pitt Basketball and college football. Friends received 2-4 & 7-9 pm Friday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St, New Florence and 10 till time of service 11 am Saturday at the Seward United Methodist Church, 213 Indiana St, Seward, PA, Pastor Ruth A. Moore officiaitning. Private grave site service for immediate family to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Martainsburg, PA. Masonic service will be held Friday.
