Obituary of Melvin T. Benamati

Melvin T. Benamati, 76, Armagh passed away February 4, 2024, at Beacon Ridge. Born September 24, 1947, in Indiana the son of late Thomas and Anna (Dini) Benamati.  Also preceded in death by brothers Thomas Benamati and wife Rose, Angelo “Pete” Benamati and wife Kate, and Joseph Benamati, and sister Elizabeth Gazza and her husband Marino.

 

  Survived by sons Timothy Benamati, Armagh; and Christopher Benamati and wife Angela, Brush Valley; granddaughter Brooke Benamati; sister Judith Kokolis, Duncansville; and sister-in-law Martha Benamati, Homer City.

 

   Melvin is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knight of Columbus, Brush Valley Antique Iron & Power Club.  He is a life member of Armagh & E. Wheatfield Twp. Vol. Fire Co. where he served as Chief Engineer for many years.  Current president of Indiana County Fire Chiefs Assoc.  He also served in the PA National Guard where he was a Sergeant First Class and was owner/operator of Mel’s Family Catering.

 

  Friends received 2-8 pm Wednesday at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh, and noon till time of Mass 1 pm Thursday Holy Family Catholic Church, 425 Bridge St., Seward.  Interment Armagh Cemetery.  Military honors by Blairsville Military Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Mel’s name may be made to Armagh & E. Wheatfield Twp. VFC, Indiana County Fire Chiefs Assoc, Holy Family Catholic Church or Brush Valley Antique Iron & Power Club
