Obituary of Henry E. Hill

Henry E. Hill, age 63, of Homer City died, Monday, December 30, 2013 at his daughters home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 12, 1950 to Harry E. and Betty J. (Leverknight) Hill. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Air Force. Henry is a life member of VFW Post #9310 and The American Legion Post #128. Following his service time, Henry was employed as a mechanic with R & P Coal Company and is a member of United Mine Workers of America. After retirement he was most proud of being a day care provider, chauffeur driver and avid fan for his grandchildren. He was very proud that his grandchildren attend his alma mater, United, and could always be seen at their extracurricular activities cheering them on. He was also very handy in home improvement projects and repairs and was called upon frequently by family and friends. He is survived by two children: Shannon and husband Gerald George, Brush Valley and Wade Hill, Brush Valley; four grandchildren: Logan George, Kalee Hill, Kimberlee Hill and Natalie George; siblings Hazel Yeager and husband, Chuck, of Robinson; Harry Hill of Heshbon; Thomas Hill and his wife, Deb, of Home; and William Leverknight, California; in-laws Helen Fairman of Clarksburg, Kathryn (Louis) Yugovich of Brush Valley and Frank (Colleen) Gratosky of Homer City; and by numerous nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins. Henry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Shirley, in 2011; his parents; parents-in-law Frank and Minnie Gratosky; brother-in-law’s Allen Hoffman and Clark Fairman; and several aunts and uncles. Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Thornton officiating. Military honors by local veterans organization. Interment will be in Armagh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to VNA/Hospice of Indiana County, 850 Hospital Road, Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701.
