Obituary of Mildred H. Shirley

Mildred "Millie" Shirley, 94, of Homer City (Brush Valley area), died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Indiana Square, Indiana, PA. The daughter of the late John F. and EllaMyra Deyarmin, she was born October 6, 1922. She was of the Protestant faith. Millie was a homemaker who, along with her husband, Arthur, raised three children. She worked as a U.S. Mail Carrier for a time in the 1940's. She and Arthur were married for 67 years at the time of his death in 2011. She is survived by on daughter, Linda Joiner and husband Larry, one son, Terry and wife Barbara, all of Homer City; Seven grandchildren: Melissa Walsh and husband Gary, Bolingbrook, Ill: Brain Joiner, Mount Lebanon; Dwayne Shirley and Adam Shirley and wife Jessica, all of Richmond, VA; Terry Shirley, Charlotte, NC; Craig Shirley and wife Maria, Homer City; and Candace Shirley, Robinson; nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, son, Darrell, six brothers: Francis, Paul, John, Stanley, Clair, and William; and three sisters Elda Fox, Mabel Hilty and Alice Hamilton. Millie was the last surviving member of her family. Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Friday at the Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh, where services will be held at 2 PM Saturday with the Rev. Thomas Spiker officiating. Interment will be in the Armagh Cemetery. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Bernard Coppolo, the Visiting Nurse Association of Indiana County and the staff at Indiana Square for their outstanding and compassionate care.
