Obituary of Rex Garland
Donald Rex Garland, 71, Robinson, PA and Perry, GA, passed away November 22, 2019 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born April 9, 1948 in Johnstown, the son of late Joseph and Vesta (Muir) Garland. Also preceded in death by first wife Melenna Kay (McClure) Garland, infant daughter Jennifer Garland, sister Doris St. Clair, brother Lee Garland and infant brother James Homer Garland.
Survived by wife Joyce (Schreiber) Garland; daughters Cristal Garland, Clairton; Bethany Bateman, Herminie; granddaughter Marquetta Kifer and husband Steve Kifer, Bovard; and one great-grandchild on the way. Sisters Leona Howe, Bolivar; Jo-Ann Riddell, New Florence. His marriage to Joyce gave Rex three children, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, along with having numerous nieces and nephews.
Rex was a veteran of the Vietnam War, Life Member of Livingston Montana VFW, former Indiana County VFW District Commander, supported the wounded warrior project, drove van for the VA and was active with the local Dedicated Old Veterans.
He was a and avid hunter and outdoorsman, former Hunter Safety course instructor, member of Robinson Rod and Gun Club, graduate of Laurel Valley High School, and member of Perry Georgia United Methodist Church.
Rex was a family man who enjoyed spending time with is family and sitting on his back-porch swing.
Friends received 11 am till time of service 1 pm Wednesday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence. Military honors by the DOV. Future inurnment Fort Palmer cemetery.
