Obituary of Thelma Galbraith
Thelma Galbraith, 82, Ligonier formerly of New Florence, passed away April 22, 2024, at Heritage Ridge Senior Living, Johnstown. Born October 24, 1941, in Latrobe, the daughter of the late Carl C. and Sarah R. (Hoffer) Piper. Also preceded in death by husband Samuel R. Galbraith; great-grandchildren Isaiah Sowers and Riley Chesla; Brother Charles Piper.
Thelma is survived by two children Jim Galbraith and Tangi Scott, New Florence and Ruth Lear and husband Mike, Ligonier. Four granddaughters Christine Sowers and husband Dan, Bolivar; Jennifer Chesla and husband Brian, New Florence; Cortney Lear, Ligonier; Kailee Lear, Ligonier. Great-grandchildren Emma and Elliott Sowers, and Isaac Chesla.
Sisters Twila Conrad, New Florence; Sarah (William) Fligger, Mt. Pleasant; Ella Rummel, New Florence; brothers Elmer Piper, New Florence and twin brother Carl “Dean” Piper, Latrobe; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Thelma was a held the position of tax collector for St. Clair Township for numerous years and member of Fairfield Vol Fire Co. She enjoyed bingo, putting together puzzles, and playing Bingo.
