Obituary of Sally Elaine Luther

Sally Elaine Luther, 84, of Vancrest Assisted Living in Eaton Ohio, and formerly of New Florence Pennsylvania, passed peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2018. Born July 6, 1933 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Lyle Vincent and Ida Helen (Skiles) Trexler. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Ord Luther. She was employed as secretary and office manager at Rachelwood Wildlife Preserve until her retirement. She was a long-time member of the New Florence United Methodist Church until moving to Eaton, Ohio in 2009, to be closer to her family. Sally was very active with the Valley Players of Ligonier appearing in several stage productions and children shows. Not a summer weekend went by without Sally entertaining and cooking for family and friends gathered around the pool. She enjoyed passing time by needlepointing and is best known by her personalized Christmas stockings she made for all family members. She is survived by her brother Lyle K. Trexler, Greensburg, PA; three children, Regina George and husband, Dale, of Erie, PA, James Michael "Mike" Luther and wife, Karen, of Cary, NC and Curtis Luther and wife, Lisa, of Eaton, OH; eight grandchildren, Ben and Emily George, Jill (Luther) Hall and Jamie Luther, Garrett, Arah, Hannah, and Connor Luther. Sally also has 3 great-grandchildren; Cy, Sloane, and Grady, whom she loved dearly and always told friends about their daily accomplishments. Arrangements will be handled by Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, Ohio and the Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence, Pennsylvania, with a private service to be conducted by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Florence Community Library.
