Obituary of Fred Donald Grening

Grening, Fred Donald, 92, Homer City, formerly of Lorain, died February 19, 2012 at McCullough House, Johnstown. Born April 1, 1919 in Johnstown the son of late Fred A. and Bertha (Novisher) Grening. Also preceded in death by wife Jane Grening who died June 2, 2011. Survived by daughter Sandra Dill and husband Robert, Homer City; grandchildren Brett Dill and wife Sonya, Macungie; Amber Kentes and husband Michael, Johnstown; great-granddaughter Ainsley Dill. Retired mechanical engineer from Bethlehem Steel Corp, Johnstown Plant. US Navy Veteran of WW II and Korean Conflict with 30 years of active service and a survivor of the sinking of the USS Vincennes. Life member of V.F.W. post 155. Member of Jenner's Rod & Gun Club, Somerset County Old-timers Baseball, Johnstown Retired Men's Club and Pleasant Valley Golf Course. Friends received 10 am till time of service 11 am Wednesday at Blacklick Community United Methodist Church, 1488 Bracken Rd, Vintondale. Rev. Jonathan R. Bell. Interment Richland Cemetery. Military rite by V.F.W. Post 155 at the cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St, Armagh. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the church, Four Footed Friends Inc., 220 Beck Rd., Indiana, or Medi Home Hospice,709 Franklin Street Suite 101 Johnstown
