Obituary of William Grant Gibson

Gibson, W. Grant, 74, Bolivar died July 20, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. Born September 18, 1937 in West Bolivar the son of late George amd Irene (Burkett) Gibson. Survived by mother Irene, West Bolivar; wife of 49 years Donna (James) Gibson; sons Richard Charles James, Virginia and Michael James, Sr., New Florence; grandchildren Jordan Michael James, Brandon Austin James, Isabella Dawn James, and Michael Wayne James Jr.; sister Joyce Garverick and husband Willis, Avis; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father George Gibson. Member of Church of Christ, West Bolivar and UMWA Local 1257 where he was past recording secretary. Grant was a retired coal miner, avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed riding his tractor. He was a loyal supporter of Laurel Valley Football having attendant every game for over thirty years. His grandchildren meant the most to him. . Friends received 6-8PM Monday and 2-4 & 6-8 pm Tuesday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St. New Florence, and 10 till time of service 11 am Wednesday at Church of Christ, Bolivar. Ray Lee officiating. Military rite by local veteran organization. Internment Germany Lutheran Cemetery.
