Obituary of Weldon F Robertson

Weldon "Shine" Frank Robertson passed away on October 5, 2012 at the age of 81 after complications from a recent fall. He was born on November 21, 1930 in Robinson, and lived in Johnstown at the time of his death. He was formerly married to Joanne June Wick and had three children; Danny Joe Robertson; James Richard Robertson; and Susan Lynn Vanden Heuvel. He attended Bolivar Elementary and Bolivar High School, graduating in 1948. He entered the United States Navy after high school and was honorable discharged. Shine was employed with the Communications and Signal Department of the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central Railroad and retired from Conrail in 1992. He is also the former owner of the Bolivar Bowling Lanes when it was located below the Bolivar Fire Hall. He is proceeded in by his mother Emma and father Frank; his brothers James, Robert and Ray; and sisters Lillian Beltz and Agnes Jean Robertson and great-granddaughter MacKenzie Bowman. He is survived by his sister Anne Troska and brother Gene Craig Robertson. He is further survived by his son Danny Joe Robertson and finance Gail Carney; son James Richard and wife Deborah; daughter Susan Vanden Heuvel and husband Tommy. Further survivors include four grandchildren, Jessica Bowman; Brady and his wife Michelle; Carly and Daniel Vanden Heuvel and five great-grandchildren Ashleigh and Logan Bowman and Austin and Averie Robertson. Shine was a lifetime member of Bolivar American Legion and the Robinson VFW and a retired member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalman. Founding member of the El Rancho Dart League. Hobbies included bowling, gardening, golfing, and motorcycle riding. Shine shared his love for NASCAR and football with family and friend with many gaming pools. Fondly known as Uncle Shine, Father Shine, Unc, Captain or Cap and Brother. Friends received 2-7 pm Sunday and 9 till time of service 11 am Monday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home. 139 Ligonier St., New Florence. Pastor Ron St. Clair officiating. Military rite by local veterans organization. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the First Candle SIDS Foundation, 1314 Bedford Ave., Baltimore, MD 21208 on behalf of his deceased great-granddaughter MacKenzie Bowman.
