Obituary of Carl Richard Stokes
Stokes, Carl Richard “Dick”, 87, Robinson passed away peacefully October 6, 2018 at Amber Springs at Laurel Wood, Westmont. Born October 20, 1930 in Bolivar the son of the late George and Susan (Wambaugh) Stokes. Also preceded in death by loving wife of 66 years Shirley A. (Lear) Stokes; sister Norma (Stokes) Smith; brother George Stokes, Jr.; step-fathers Boyd Muir and Joseph Bernabo. Survived by children Richard Stokes and wife Sally, Cramer; Ronald Stokes and wife Rhonda, Dallas, NC; Rob Stokes and wife Barb, New Florence; Debbie Brinton and husband Geoff, Lexington, KY; Lori Hollobaugh and husband Hooch, Dilltown. Grandchildren Jennifer Eritano and husband Bobby; Heather Strong and husband Matt; Christopher Stokes and wife Tracy; Courtney Cahoon and husband Glen; Ty Hoffman and wife Leighann; Angel Hoffman; Cullen Stokes and wife Brady; Tyler Stokes and wife Lindsay; Ryan Dupre; Susan Sauers and husband Jake; Benjamin and wife Emily Hollobaugh. 18 great-grandchildren and one soon to be born great-grandchild.
Dick was a veteran of the Korean War who retired from US Navy as BMC with 20 years of service and then Dietrich Industries, Blairsville after 25 years. He was a member of American Legion and VFW. Was a past volunteer of Veteran Burial Ceremony Detail.
Friends received 2 pm till time of service 4 pm Tuesday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence. Pastor Kim Betz officiating. Interment Germany Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of Flowers memorial donations may be made in Dick and Shirley’s name to Robinson Evangelical United Methodist Church Building Fund.
