Obituary of Robert D Fisher
Fisher, Robert Duane, 88, Gibsonia, formerly of Bolivar, passed away December 21, 2018 at St. Barnabas Nursing Home. Born December 23, 1929 in Robinson the son of the late Chester R., Sr. and Ella (Brendlinger) Fisher. Also preceded in death by brothers William George, Lyle P., Chester R., Jr., and Donald Fisher. Sister Maire Blythe.
Survived by loving wife with whom he just celebrated their 68th anniversary with on December 15th Jean Larue (Burkett); daughters Sherri Progar and husband Ralph, Pittsburgh & Venice, FL; Deborah Williams and husband Brien, Denver, NC. Grandchildren Lauren Maskelony and Philip, Rochester NY; Elizabeth Garcia and husband J. R., Fort Worth TX; step-grandchild Susan Progar, Monaca; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren.
Robert was a loving husband and father, who was very athletic as a youth having played football, baseball and basketball and later coached softball, while enjoying golfing, bowling, and square dancing. He was instrumental in helping to get the Bolivar medical clinic, US Army veteran, and member of both Charles Sutton American Legion Post 128, Bolivar and Duane Boring VFW Post 9310, Robinson. A retiree of Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown Plant.
Friends received 10 AM till time of service at 12:30 PM Thursday December 27, 2018 at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence. Pastor James Sunseri officiating. Interment Germany Lutheran Cemetery. Military rite by local veterans group.
