Obituary of John Lester Detwiler

J. Lester Detwiler, 83, New Florence formerly of Long Key, FL, died December 15, 2012 at Home. Born June 29, 1929 in Williamsburg, PA the son of late John Lester Sr. and Florence (Shore) Detwiler. Also preceded in death by wife of 62 years Lois V. (Showalter) Detwiler who died February 22, 2011, and brother Dean A. Detwiler. Survived by children Corena Stiffler and husband James, New Florence; Bruce Detwiler and wife Bonnie Upper St. Clair; grandchildren James Stiffler Jr. and wife Tracy; Kevin Stiffler and wife Amy; Heidi (Stiffler) Peters and husband Bert; Leslie (Detwiler) Fastovsky and husband Jeff; Amber Krouse and Sean Krouse; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. Member of New Florence United Methodist Church, Juniata Blue Lodge #282 F&AM, Hollidaysburg and Valley of Altoona Consistory. Retired employee of Penelec with 42 years of service at both Williamsburg and Seward Generating Stations. The family would like to express their sincere thank you to Dr. Eckels and Conemaugh Hospice for the excellent care that was given. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence where service will be held 11 am Tuesday. Rev. Sharon Hamley and Rev. Norman Kaufman co-officiating. Interment Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg where committal service will be held 1:00 pm. Masonic Service 7:30 pm Monday at the funeral home.
