LaMantia, Joseph Salvatore., 95, Bolivar passed away January 9, 2019 at The Bethlen Home. Born October 28, 1923 in Bolivar the son of late Anthony and Josephine (Marfisi) LaMantia Also preceded in death by
siblings; Paul LaMantia, Mary (LaMantia) Machak, Anthony, Vince, Philip and John LaMantia.
Survived by loving wife of 67 years Betty Lou (Treasure) LaMantia; children Marc A. (Mary Garland) LaMantia, Bolivar; Joel W. (Beverly Penrose) LaMantia, Brush Valley; Karen A. (Ed) Ashcom, Pleasant Mount. Grandchildren Melissa (Jesse) Keller, Bolivar; Matthew LaMantia, New Florence; Andrea (Eric) Dixon, Vintondale; Jared (Diana Rummery), LaMantia, Austin, TX; Tony (Megan Dodge) Walbeck, Roaring Brook Twp.; Great-grandchildren Michael & Elizabeth Keller; Sophia & Dominic LaMantia; Jakob & Erika Dixon; Lincoln LaMantia; Quinn & Elle Walbeck. Sisters and brother Netta (Gerald) Cunningham, New Florence; Dominick (Gloria) LaMantia, Bolivar; Josie Graham, CA; sister-in-law Fran LaMantia, Seward. Numerous and loving nieces and nephews.
Joseph was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Seward and was one of founding member who help built the former St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bolivar where he was an usher and very active in various activities. U.S. Army Veteran of WWII he served as M.P. He was a self-employed truck driver who owned and operated his own tuck for many years, delivering for the Garfield Refectories, National Freight and McQuade Trucking.
Joe enjoyed spending time tinkering in his garage and traveling to the beach. He took great joy in his great-grandchildren who enjoyed all the activities at Bethlen Home. He was a very loving father and doting husband to his wife.
Friends received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence where Veteran Honors will be held at 3:45 PM and vigil will be held at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 425 Bridge Street, Seward. Rev. Robert Washko officiating. Interment S.S. Jude Cemetery, Blairsville.
