Obituary of Stephen Louis Balencic

Balencic, Stephen Louis, 97, Ebensburg formerly of New Florence and Johnstown, passed away November 27, 2020. Born August 30, 1923 in Johnstown the son of late Stephen L. and Anna R. (Yarnovich) Balencic. Also preceded in death by wife Mary Catherine (Voytko) Balencic, daughter Theresa, sisters Catherine James, Sophia Fink, Sister Mary Jane Frances, ADPPS, Mary Hanley and Barbara Moore, brothers Frank, John, Paul and William Balencic. Steve was the last surviving child of Stephen and Anna Balencic. Survived by children Randy Balencic and wife Dorie (Flickinger), Indian Head, MD; Gregory Balencic and wife Patty (O'Shell); Brian Balencic and Gary Balencic, all of New Florence; Jeffrey Balencic and wife Gina (Gamble), Indiana; Anna Marie Thomas, Seward; Stephen G. Balencic and wife Laurie (Simpson), New Florence; Christine Miklos and husband Gary, Johnstown; Renee Henderson, Johnstown; grandchildren Dr. Jordan Balencic, Brad Balencic, Bethany Balencic, Jessica Thomas, Jennifer Thomas, Hannah Miklos, Brock Henderson, Brent Henderson, Ellen Trimble, Eli Trimble, Sarah Trimble; six great-granddaughters. Steve was a Navy Veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS 577 Sproston. An avid outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman who enjoyed gardening and cooking. He was a member of IBEW Local 126 retiring after 25 years, Polski Dom, Turner Hall and Croatian Hall, and a longtime member of Holy Family Church, 425 Bridge St, Seward where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date due to Covid -19.
