Obituary of Leona M. Enck

Leona M. (Baird) Helzel-Enck, formerly of Bolivar and New Florence, passed away at Cambria Care Center in Ebensburg, on Friday, January 15, 2021.  She was born August 17, 1938, in Bolivar, the daughter of the late George A. and Annie R. (Boring) Baird.

Leona was a loving mother of three children Barbara (Helzel) Kruk, New Florence and husband Greg, Sr.; Bruce Helzel, New Florence; and Brenda (Helzel) Baird-Shaffer and husband Matthew, Listie and a doting grandmother of five grandchildren, Jeromie and Nicholas Baird; Greg Kruk, Jr. (Kelly); Margaret Kruk; Andrew Kruk (Kirsten).  She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren Oakley and Taliah Kruk.  Five step-children Diane Stahl; Melvin E. Enck; Paulette Newell; Charlene McClean; Loriann Hill.  Seven step-granchildren and thirteen step-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Melvin L. Enck, who passed away February 1, 2004. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  Eight brothers and sisters preceded her in death: Blair, Helen (Baird) Henderson; Merle; Arthur, Anna (Baird) Lickenfelt; George L; Donald; and Catherine (Baird) Muir.

Friends received Monday from 10 AM till time of service at 1 PM at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence.  Lloyd Campbell officiating.  Face coverings and social distancing are required.   Interment Germany Lutheran Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to help with final expenses.
