Obituary of Charles C McElwee

Charles C. McElwee, 82, Strongstown, died June 9, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. Born November 2, 1930 in Bolivar son of the late Jessie and Josephine (McAdams) McElwee. Also preceded in death by wife Ella (McLain) McElwee; son Robert McElwee; granddaughters Tammy and Macie Kowchuck; brother Kenneth “Bud” McElwee; sisters Delores Darlene Fleming and Bernice Gamble. Survived by daughters Carol Reese and Barbara Hockenberry and husband Greg, both Indiana; son Steven Moore and fiancé Julie Fields, Penn Run; grandchildren Michelle Shaw and husband Danny, Kittanning; Todd Kowchuck, Falls Church, VA; Matthew Hockenberry, Rochester, NY; great-grandchildren Amber Brendlinger and husband Kalen, Bryanna Pounds, Halie Breznai, Morgan and Karlie Patterson, Skylar Garrett; Sisters Ethel Jackson, Derry; Louise McElwee, Ligonier; Alma Gay Sapp, Charleroi. Family was of the upmost importance to Charles. He was a US Navy Veteran who served on the USS Samuel B. Roberts and USS Mt. Olympus. Retired employee of Bethlehem Steel Corp. with 33 years of service. He enjoyed working on cars, tinkering and NASCAR. He enjoyed the company of his numerous friends. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Heritage Home Health Agency and especially to Jeanne Clark, Tish Timko, Connie Zagurskie for all the special care and love. Friends received 6-9 PM Wednesday and 11 AM till time of service at 1PM Thursday at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St, Armagh. Military rite by local veterans organization.
