Obituary of Barbara L Keeler

Barbara L. (Martin) Keeler, 93, New Florence passed away October 12, 2023, at Quality Life Services, Westmont Woods.  Born June 23, 1930, in Johnstown the daughter of late Reigh and Ruth (St. Clair) Martin.  Also preceded in death by her husband Floyd, and these brothers and sisters Glenn Martin, Joan Martin, Ollie West, and Alan “Sam” Martin.  brothers-in-law Arthur “Screech” West and Ron Birkhimer, and nephews Paul and Karl Birkhimer.

Survived by sister Mary Louise “Weezie” Birkhimer, Johnstown; sister-in-law Mary Kathryn Martin, Seward; nieces and nephews Donna Bennett, Diane Cramer, Dean West, Linda LaMantia, Brenda Gdula, Todd Martin, Brad Martin, and Karen Slenska, and numerous great-nieces, great- nephews and extended Keeler/Smith family members.

Barb was a very active member of New Florence Methodist Church, also a member of Laurel Valley Senior Citizens, New Florence Women’s Club, Red Hats, New Florence V.F.C. Ladies Aux., New Florence High School reunion committee and Order of Eastern Star where she was a past Worthy Matron.  She was a co-owner of Keeler Trucking, and Laurel Valley Video, an employee of Smith Bus Lines, and a long-time literacy aid at Laurel Valley Elementary.  Barb was a meticulous record keeper and in later years she was a devoted visitor to all her family and friends.

Friends received 2-8 pm Friday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence, where O.E.S. service will be held 7 pm Friday.  Funeral Service will be held 11 am Saturday at New Florence Methodist Church, 200 9^th St., New Florence.  Pastor Ruth Moore officiating.  Interment Fairfield Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Laurel Valley Senior Center, 216 Ligonier St., or New Florence V.F.C., POB 19, New Florence, PA 15944.  Online condolences may be made at www.thestuartfuneralhomes.com
