Obituary of Twila Jean Conrad

Twila Jean Conrad, 85, New Florence, passed away December 31, 2024, at Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital.  Born July 26, 1939, in Cook Twp., the daughter of the late Carl and Sarah (Hoffer) Piper.  Also preceded in death by husband Raymond Conrad, brother Charles Piper and sister Thelma Galbraith.

 

Survived by children Ronald Conrad, New Florence, and Mary Niezelski and husband Andrew, Latrobe.  Grandchildren Zachary Niezelski and wife Niha, Cincinnati, OH, Luke Niezelski and wife Marissa, Waltham, MA, Caroline Szwarc and husband Dan, Yardley, Klayton Hawkins and wife Sueann, Boswell, Charla Conrad, New Florence.  Great-grandchildren Cash, Ava, Esther, Ace, and one soon to be born great-granddaughter.  Brothers Elmer Piper, New Florence, Carl “Dean” Piper, Latrobe; sisters Sarah Fligger and husband William, Mt. Pleasant, Ella Rummel, New Florence.

 

Twila was an avid genealogist who enjoyed tracing numerous family histories and all local history.  Twila also was a talented artist who enjoyed writing poetry, farming, chickens, ducks, and kitties.  She was a Ladies Auxiliary and later Associate member of Fairfield Vol. Fire Co. since the 1960’s, Laurel Valley Historical Society, New Florence Women’s Club, and committee person for the New Florence sesquicentennial.  Twila worked as a school bus driver and aid for 44 years for Stiles and Lodestar Bus Lines and was known locally as “The Tupperware Lady”

 

Friends receive 2-8 pm Friday at Kenneth A Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence, where service will be held 11 am Saturday.  Pastor Roger Roadman Officiating.  Interment Fairfield Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to either the Laurel Valley Historical Society PO Box 97, or Fairfield Vol Fire Co., 5414 Rt 711, New Florence, PA 15944.
