Obituary of Robert W. Simpson

Simpson, Robert W. “Cookie”, 75, New Florence passed away surrounded by his family November 25, 2013 at Hillsdale Nursing and Rehab Center. Born November 8, 1938 in Johnstown the son of Late Robert F. and Florence “Flossie” (Brode) Simpson. Also preceded in death by sister-in-law Marilyn and Larry Wiler and Lucille Carley. Survived by wife of 54 years Gerry (Hakel) Simpson; children David Simpson and wife Danielle, Seward; Laurie Balenic and husband Steve, New Florence; will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Brody & Tressa Simpson; sister Pam Bennett and husband Jim, Seward; sister-in-law Cheryl Maxson, Valparaiso, Neb.; nieces and nephews, Bryan and Bethany Kolesar, Deb Hoke, Tammy Petersen, Terry Wiler, Gary Carley, Angie and May Maxson. He retired from Penelec Conemaugh Generating Station. Member and retiree of Trinity Presbyterian Church, New Florence. Member of Ligonier Lodge 331 F&AM Bowled in several leagues and enjoyed pitching horseshoes. Served in the US Air Force from 1956-60. Life time member of New Florence VFW Post 7622. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Friday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence where service will be held 2 pm Saturday. Rev. Barry Young officiating. Masonic service 7 pm Friday at the funeral home. Military rite by local veteran’s organization. Interment Fairfield Cemetery.
