Obituary of A. Louise Burkett

Burkett, A. Louise, died May 12, 2014 at Bethlen Home, Ligonier. Born June 26, 1921, in Waterford, daugther of the late Bert and Mayme (Kinsey) Jones. Also preceded in death by sister, Helen Boyd; brother Bill and beloved husband, H. Woodrow Sr., who died April 7, 1976. Survived by sons, Woody Jr. (Linda Lear) and John (Connie Askins), all of Bolivar, and daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" (Paul) Abram, Johnstown. She cherished her four grandchildren - Allyson (Dennis) Eckels, Bolivar; Kimberly Matha (Chris Davis), Erie; Gregory (Stacy Neiderhiser), New Florence area; and Michael (Nikki Gray), Mineral Point - and adored her 10 great-grandchildren, Shayne, Deena and Daniel Eckels; C.J. Matha; Paige, Madisyn and Brody Burkett; and Caleb, Jordyn and Gabriel Burkett. Also survived by her dear brother and sisters Eugene (Thelma) Jones, Dorothy Fish and Cathrine Shadron, all of Waterford. She was happiest when her family, including her exteded family, gathered for holidays, picnics or any celebration. She crafted beautiful personalized photo albums and holiday decorations that her family treasured. A Pirates and Steelers fan, she telegraphed the teams all the good luck she could muster by crossing not only her fingers, but her arms and legs as well. She was the best wife, Mum and Minaw a family could ever hope for. Memorial contributions may be made either to the Robinson Church of the Brethren, 211 High St., Robinson, Pa. 15949, or the Ligonier Church of the Brethren, 405 Route 271 North, Ligonier, Pa. 15658. At Louise's request, there will be no public viewing or visitation. Private interment Bolivar West View Cemetery. Arrangements by Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence.
