Obituary of Ruth C Pyer

Ruth C. Pyer, 82, of Brush Valley, slept peacefully away as she went home to be with the Lord on Saturday May 17, 2014 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born December 21, 1931, in Wehrum, she was the daughter of late William W. and Ida (Egolf) Conrad. Naomi Ruth was the loving and devoted wife of her husband LeJeune "Junie" Pyer, who passed away just weeks prior on March 30, 2014. It seems that one could not live without the other. Ruth was employed by Farm Bureau, Indiana, PA in her younger years and left there to raise her family. Ruth was a member of the Brush Valley United Methodist Church where she had served in the Women's Group and sang in the choir. She was known to friends and family for her gentle ways, loving kindness, hospitality and generosity. She was a caregiver and a true servant of the Lord. Ruth was a beloved mother and grandmother, survived by her two daughters Carole Skedel and husband Clay, of Brush Valley; and Susan Pyer of Indiana. Her grandchildren are Eric and Leah Skedel who called her "Manu". Special to her heart were Eunie, Brittany, Brock and many friends and family members who will miss her greatly. Mrs. Pyer was also preceded in by her sister Helen Rummel and brother Ralph Conrad (surviving spouse Jennie). Her surviving sisters and Jean Calhoun and Janet Pyer. "Ruthie" has touched many lives and will be remembered as an angel on earth. "Absent from the body, present with the Lord." Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday and 10 till time of service 11 am Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E Philadelphia St, Armagh. Pastor Rick Russell and Pastor Herman Ridley officiating. Internment Armagh Cemetery.
