Obituary of George E. Bracken
Bracken, George E., 90, Vintondale area of E. Wheatfield Twp. went to be with the Lord June 15, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 12, 1924 in E. Wheatfield Twp. the son of late Arthur and Dorothy (Ling) Bracken. Also preceded in death by wife of over 67 years Margie (Post) Bracken who passed on November 2, 2013; sons Richard Gilmore and Douglas Bracken; brothers Robert and Donald Bracken; sisters Fay Bunn and Ruth Long. Survived by children Gary Bracken and wife Jane, Pittsburgh; Georgette Janicsko and husband August, Vintondale; daughter-in-law Cindy Gilmore, Vintondale; grandchildren Corey and wife Kyra Gilmore, Heather Jones and husband Derek, Bethany, Ben and Christina Bracken, Dan Janicsko and wife Shannon, and Yvonne Lingafelt and husband Jesse; great-grandchildren Cassandra and Richard Janicsko, Kendra Jones, Anthony Lingafelt and Hannah Livengood; great-great-granddaughter Serenity Newman; sister LaVerne Bracken, Vintondale. A 1941 graduate of Armagh H.S. and later University of Pittsburgh who served in the US Navy as a Navy Aviation Radio Gunner during WWII, who worked for H.J. Heinz Co for 10 years and Pennsylvania Electric Co for 25 years as manager of Residential Services, a member of Blacklick Community United Methodist Church where he had been in the choir, United Methodist Men and served as lay leader, Cambria Lodge 278 F&AM, 32nd degree Consistory, Valley of Pittsburgh, Jaffa Shrine, Johnstown Club, American Legion Post 0619, V.F.W. Post #15038, charter member of both National WWII Memorial Society and United Area Lions Club, a past president for 17 years of E. Wheatfield Twp. Sportsman Assoc. Friends received 5 PM till time of service at 7PM Wednesday at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh. Pastor Tom Phillips officiating. Internment Armagh Cemetery. Military rite by local veterans organization.
