Obituary of Leland Doyle Carney

Leland Doyle Carney, Jr., "Junior" or "Lee", 77, Pomaria, SC (formerly of Seward, PA) went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 21, 2014. Born April 1, 1937 in Seward, PA, son of the late Leland D. Carney Sr. and Cora Mae (Fry) Nyland. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Miller) Carney, his 8 children to his first wife, Sandra (Boring) Davis; Carolyn Spangler (Larry), Donald Carney (Linda), Sandra Lee Mitchell (Jeff), Vickie Coachman (Mark), Jeff Carney (Lisa), Art Carney (Tammy), Peggy Miller (Mark), Doyle Carney (Trisha), 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister Laverne Felton (Robert), brother David Bracken, sisters Kathy Gorenflo (Louis), Ruth Fox (Roger), Becky Foster (Bernie), Audrey Gibbons (Thad), Millie Thomas and many other beloved family and friends. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Kathy (Kelly) Carney, grandson Jeffrey Lynn Mitchell, Jr. and great-granddaughter Mariah LeBeth Mitchell. Leland worked at various trades including carpentry and welding. He was a licensed welder and worked for Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown, PA, Atlas Steel in Manassas, VA and Exceletech in Claremont, FL. Leland was a caring, talented man who was always there to lend a helping hand. He loved spending time woodworking, welding, creating and inventing. It was Leland's wishes that there be no viewing. Friends and relatives will gather to celebrate his life at 1:00 PM till time of Memorial Service 2:30 pm on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Richard Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia Street, Armagh, with Pastor Don Rough officiating. Graveside services and inurnment will follow at the Armagh Cemetery where Leland will be laid to rest.
