Obituary of Ernest Shannon

Shannon, Ernest, 86, Johnstown passed away October 25, 2014 in Golden Living Center. Born March 15, 1928 in New Florence, the son of the late William A. and Hazel (McCowan) Shannon. Also preceded in death by wife Carolyn (Rishell) Shannon, brothers William, Robert, Donald and James Shannon; sisters Dorothy and Viola. Ernest is survived by children Wanda Wilson and husband Ray, Pontiac, MI and Patricia Kelly and husband Karl, Johnstown; grandchildren Christopher Chrisman, Johnstown; Jamie Brandon, Johnstown; Anthony Belknap, Johnstown; Travis Kelly, Johnstown; and great-granddaughter Haley Brandon; sister Nancy Bowers, MI. Ernest is a US Army Veteran, was a retired welder at Fisher Body and owner / operator of My Place Bar. He was a member of Charles Sutton American Legion Post128, Bolivar; New Florence V.F.W Post 7622; F&AM Ligonier Lodge #331, 32nd. Degree Mason; and Valley of New Castle Scottish Rite. Ernest was a sweet, caring, loving family man who will be deeply missed by those that knew him. Friends received noon till time of memorial service at 2 PM Wednesday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St. New Florence, Chris Hopper officiating. Military rite by local veterans organization. Inurnment Benshoff Hill Cemetery.
