Obituary of Gloria L Dick
Gloria L. Dick, Brush Valley, passed away January 24, 2015 in Windber. Born April 17, 1928 in New Florence, the daughter of late Elizabeth Frye and David Haire. Also preceded in death by her husband Norman L. Dick, sister-in-law Jean Davis ( husband John). Survived by their two sons, Wayne Paul, wife Janet, Brush Valley; and Dr. Kenneth Parker, wife Deborah, Indian Lake; Grandchildren Terrance, wife Ellen, Fredericksburg, Va. Garrett (wife Melissa), Ellicott City, Md.; Kendra, Columbia, Md;. Michele (husband Robert) Johnstown; great- grandchildren, Sean Paul, Caitlyn Marie, Harper Mayleigh, Gavin Parker, Gracie Julianne, and Grayden Parker; brother Dr. Edward Bachofer (wife Nancy) Birmingham, Al.; sister Hilda Walker (husband James) St. Louis, Mo.; Also survived by nieces and nephews, Dale, Connie, Carol, Sherry, John, Candy and David. Graduate of New Florence H.S. class of 1944. Member of New Florence Methodist Church and Bethel United Presbyterian Church. She worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C., she owned Gloria's Gift Gate and worked for the Post Office in New Florence and Johnstown and the Indiana Court of Common Pleas. She was a Republican Party committee woman for many years, first president of Laurel Valley Parent Teachers Club, and an original member of the New Florence Women's Club. The first president of the aux. to the VFW Post 7622, president of Westmoreland County Council and president of District 27 VFW women's auxiliary. Moved to Brush Valley where she was active in Senior Citizens, Indiana Garden Club, Bird club, founding member and chairman of Indiana Herb Study Group. She was loved by family and friends. The family would like to thank the wonderful people at St. Jude's Haven and the great work of Windber Hospice. At her request there will be no viewing.
