Obituary of Lawrence C. Shirey

Shirey, Lawrence C., 65, Seward passed away October 3, 2015 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born February 11, 2015 in Johnstown the son of late Lawrence and Norma (McClellan) Shirey. Also preceded in death by sisters Martha Shirey, Catherine Brendlinger and Cindy Wagner. Survived by wife of 42 years Jody (Silk) Shirey; children Heather Baird and husband Steve, New Florence; Jessica Custer and husband John, Armagh; Joshua Shirey and wife Michele, Bolivar; nephew who he help raise Ray Jones and wife Dawn, Fairbanks, AK; grandchildren Kiersten and Mason Baird, Kallie and Austin Beard, Logan and Alexis Shirey; step-grandhildren Brandon DeWitt and Lara Custer; soon to be born great-granddaughter Aubree; mother-in-law Margaret Silk, Bolivar; uncle Bill McClellan along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was a member of UMWA and retired coal miner and employee of Penn DOT, an avid hunter, coin collector, who enjoyed western movies, oldies music, going to flea markets and his faithful companion Roxie. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Massoud and the nurses and staff at Conemaugh. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence where service will be held 11 am Wednesday. Rev. Norris B. Mason officiating. Interment Fort Palmer Cemetery.
