Obituary of Gloria A. Whipkey

Whipkey, Gloria Ann, 84, New Florence passed away April 30, 2016 at home surrounded by her family after a lone courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 11, 1931 in Parsons, WV to the late John and Ruby Stevenson, also preceded in death by daughter Carla Reed, Florida. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Carl H. Whipkey, New Florence; son John Whipkey and wife Linda, Ligonier; granddaughter Laurel Ross and husband Erik, Ligonier and 2 great-grandchildren, Haileigh and Elliott. Gloria was a graduate of Greensburg High School and Slippery Rock College. She is a retired teacher who taught elementary school for the Derry school district for over 20 years. Gloria loved her students, her books, dogs and her yearly visitors, the humming birds. Friends received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence where service will be held 11 AM Tuesday. Pastor Gary Rutter officiating. Interment Ligonier Valley Cemetery.
