My dearest Uncle Jim. I cannot express my grief of having lost one of my most wonderful persons in my life. We were not only raised together, but we were also trusted friends and I miss his advice and assistance. He was a great mentor and in my path through life, I only wanted to emulate him.

I am sad to say we are rapidly Approaching the faithful day we lost a very special person. My Uncle by blood and my Brother by proximity and length. James B. McClain, Sr. It was written in his obituary that I was a special Nephew. While this is basically true, I think I was more than what was led to believe. James and I were raised together. We woke daily picking strawberry’s, howing corn and mowing hay with hand sighs. We ate breakfast cooked by my Grandfather Ves, together daily. We loaded coal and empty ashes from the house we were raised together. He taught me to dance and how to avoid the belt from Granma McClain. He was my mentor and babysitter. Once while alone we were to iron clothes and James decided to make me do it while he napped and after a while, I got angry and branded his chest with the Iron, but we were brothers and he kept it from Grandma. I was the first to know he was to marry MY Aunt Barb, He loaned me his 1951 Mercury because it had a big back seat. Use your imagination! I have kept silent for these 8 years, but I think it must be noted we were more than just special uncle/nephew. James was my Brother. We were not beer drinking buddies. I helped him raise his new family, I mentored him when times got hard with his job in Newark. He was and will always be my brother James. If you like this OK, but if you have objections or offended, we can debate it. I traveled the world to visit him and his family. I love them all and wil always love them. RIP Brother James, I miss you always. Brother Herbie Dale. McClain
