Obituary of Violet M. Berkhamer

Berkhamer, Violet M., 81, New Florence went home to be with the Lord September 7, 2017. Born April 6, 1936 in Seward she is the daughter of the late Thomas B. and Laura A. (Cramer) Heming. Also preceded in death by husband Robert F. Berkhamer, grandson Matthew Eugene; son-in-law Joseph Jacobson; daughter-in-law Carol. Brothers Thomas W.; Harold "Pickle"; Homer; David and Gary. Sisters Helen Rummel; Lila Mae Keiger; Janet Garland; Mary Ellen Brett and Roberta Heming. Survived by children Candice Jacobson, Nanty Glo; Robert T. Berkhamer and wife Brenda; Larry Berkhamer both of New Florence; grandchildren Tammy Lentz and husband Aaron, Homer City; Amanda Smorto and husband Joseph, Cresson; Amber Berkhamer, York; Jay Jacobson and wife Nicole, Nanty Glo; Robert Jacobson and wife Angela, Nanty Glo; great-grandchildren Tyler Smorto, Mackenzie Jacobson, Isabella Smorto, April Jacobson; sister Donna Brossett, GA; brothers Roy Heming and wife Peggy, Bolivar; Carl Heming and wife Dolores, Johnstown; Robert Heming and wife Bonnie, Dover; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Special Friends Carol Henderson, Wanda Gates, Jim and Barb Felix, Marci Tomalson and special granddaughters Hattie and Gracie Henderson. She was employed by Bestform as a seamstress. Member of New Florence Community Development and Shannon Creek Baptist Church. Violet will be remembered as an avid quilter who taught many people how to quilt. Friends received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St, New Florence where service will be held 11 AM Monday with Pastor Roger Roadman officiating. Interment Bethel Cemetery.
