Please accept my heart felt condolences on the loss of Dave. Such a terrific person and friend and I will miss him dearly as I know you will too. Dave and I worked together for more than 20 years both in Levelock and Dillingham. We became very good friends and often would visit for an hour or two on the phone a few times a year. We tried to have lunch or dinner together at least once a year, but that didn't happen once COVID hit. We did have one very nice telephone call this year at the end of January for which I am very grateful.
I met his sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Albert many years ago and enjoyed a dinner with them at my place in Anchorage. To you especially I sent my deepest sympathy. He will truly be missed.

Dave was an extraordinary person. He was smart, hardworking and innovative. He was also friendly, humorous and caring. I along with many others will miss him and remember him for all of these reasons. I also want to share that Dave’s life was consequential. He changed the Bristol Bay region of Alaska. For decades Dave was the executive director of the housing authority were he developed many units of high quality affordable housing through innovative financing and effective management. But he did much more than that. He was responsible for starting a vocational training program in the region as well as youth programs and even an assisted living facility. These things would not exist if it were not for Dave’s vision, hard work and management skills. A life well lived. Personally I dearly miss our chats of current events, funny stories from times long past and professional battles won and lost.

On behalf of the Laurel Valley Class of 1972, please accept our deepest sympathy. Dave, “Rughead” was a great soul with a huge personality. He will be remembered for taking photographs for our school yearbook. By the looks of his accomplishments, he lived a full and successful life. RIP dear friend, you will be missed by all who loved you.
