Obituary of David Eric McClure
David Eric McClure, 66, of Anchorage, Alaska, died on February 3, 2021. Mr. McClure was born at Johnstown, Pennsylvania September 14, 1954, and was raised in Bolivar, PA. He was a graduate of Laurel Valley High School, California University of Pennsylvania, and the Heinz School at Carnegie Mellon University. He went to Alaska in 1979, as a VISTA Volunteer for the Village of Levelock, and served as Village Administrator there for 14 years. He was Executive Director of the Bristol Bay Housing Authority in Dillingham, Alaska, having served in that position for 21 years before his retirement in 2014. He previously served as a Board Member of the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation, Vice President of the Bristol Bay Telephone Cooperative, Secretary-Treasurer of the Southwest Region School Board, and as a board member of Nushagak (Utility) Cooperatives, the Association of Alaska Housing Authorities, the Lake and Peninsula Borough Planning Commission, and the Dillingham Parks and Recreation Board. He also served as Chairman of the Southwest Alaska Vocational and Education Center Board, based in King Salmon. He was a 2009 recipient of a Rasmuson Foundation sabbatical. His interests included electronics, satellite and space shuttle imagery and geography, particularly of the Allegheny and Appalachian Mountain region. He is survived by his sisters and brothers in laws Gloria and Albert Sciulli, of Pittsburgh, PA, Diane and Johnie Gross of Sutton, WV, and sister Carol McClure of Monroeville, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lou and Wilbur McClure. Interment at Bethel Cemetery at Clyde, Pa.
