Obituary of John Davis Long

John Davis Long, 99, formerly of Vintondale, went to be with the Lord September 26, 2021, at Hollidaysburg Veteran’s Home.  Born February 21, 1922, in Altoona, the son of the late Lloyd Davis and Mary Helen (Berger) Long.  Also preceded in death by first wife Pauline Jane (Mauk) Long and second wife Ruth Adell (Bracken) Long.  Sister Sally Irwin and foster son Lawrence Dillon Long.

Survived by children: Linda L. Connell (William), Ocean City, MD; Patricia A. Hazlett (Earl), East Freedom.  Grandchildren Jennifer Sammons (William) and their children Keegan James and Maisie Davis Sammons.  John Connell (Marta) and their children Alexander “Olek” and John “Janek” Connell.  April Hazenstab (Robert) and their children Tyler Snowberger and his son Kainen, Sierra and R.J. Hazenstab; Annette Socie (Kenny) and their children Harley, Hailee, Hayden, Hawkins, and Hazen Socie.

Extended family Lawrence’s widow Geraldine Long and their daughter Judy Rabits, Gerry Dillon and her daughter Kierstan.  Step-daughter Pamela Fisher and her children Melissa Murphy (Michael) and their children Brendan, Madelyn and Ellisyn; Christopher J. Fisher (Mary); Step-son Randy Edmiston (Muriel) and their children Mark Edmiston (Emily) and children Owen, Nolan, and Piper Edmiston.  Tara Watts (Dane) and their daughter Peyton.  Sister Bonita Long, Ohio and sister-in-law LaVerne Bracken, Vintondale.

John enjoyed spending his time golfing, hunting, fishing, bowling.  He was a member of Blacklick Community United Methodist Church, Armagh Lions Club, Johnstown Elks, Pleasant Valley Golf Course and the Penelec group at Pleasant Valley Golf Course. 

He was a WWII Army Veteran and a retired Electrical Engineer from Penelec. 

Friends received 6 -8 PM Thursday at Richard C Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St. Ext., Armagh.  Where service will be held 1:30 PM Friday.  Pastor Julie Kolacz, officiating.
