The hilltop has lost one more good neighbor. I know most people called you Shorty, but to the Gero family, you were always Junior. Fondly I remember babysitting your three kids. It was always fun to occasionally see them as grownups when I would return to Pennsylvania for a visit. God bless you and may you rest in peace. Barb Gero Tripp

To Shorty's Family: Throughout my years living in Dilltown I have many great memories of Shorty. He worked on the construction of my grandmother Mash's store and I would also see him at my Aunt Julia's store. Every time you would see him he had a smile and a kind word. I recall Shorty and my Dad (Joe "Pip" Mash) enjoying their chats. His obituary is a real tribute to a great man. Rest In The Arms of Our Lord Shorty.

I have a lot of childhood memories that involve Shorty and Fran. They would come over to my parents house to visit. They would sit around the kitchen table for hours and talk. I remember Shorty and Fran square dancing. We went Christmas caroling with them. Shorty always had a smile on his face. Always in a good mood. Never had a mean bone in his body. Such a nice man. He will be missed. A life well lived. Rest in peace Shorty.

I have many great memories from growing up next door to Shorty and his family. They were my second family. There was rarely a day that Carrie Mae and I weren't at each other's house. I was blessed to go along on one of their trips out west and hiked the Grand Canyon with them. Shorty will be greatly missed by all. Love and prayers to the family.
