Obituary of William C. Liggett

William C. "Bill" Liggett, 73, Armagh died August 12, 2011 at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. Born February 12, 1938 in Indiana the son of late Robert M. and Mary Frances (London) Liggett. Survived by sisters Barbara Cassidy and husband Michael, Aurora, OH and Susan McConnell and husband Robert, Grove City; nieces and nephews, Robert Cassidy and wife Jen, Dublin, OH; John Cassidy, Columbus, OH; Julie (McConnell) McCormick and husband Michael and their daughter Alexis, Stephens City, VA; Christie (McConell) Lewis and husband Benjamin, Nolanville, TX; Uncle Jules L. Tanzer, San Diego, CA; Aunt Jean London, Avon Grove. In addition to parents he is also preceded in death by Uncle Robert London, Aunt Joann Tanzer and Uncle William G. London. Bill graduated from of United with the first class from the "new" high school in 1956. In 1960 he graduated from Penn State University, where he was active in ROTC, with a B.S. in Agricultural Education. Severed for several years as a Captain in the US Army Quartermaster Corps both state side and abroad and was a Silver Star recipient. He was employed by Swift and Company in Chicago where he was an international sales manager of agricultural chemical products. This position entailed global travel. Later he worked for Woodward and Dickerson in Philadelphia in international shipping. In 1978 he returned to operate the family farm and business interests. Friends received 3-5 and 7-9 pm Monday and 10 till time of service 11 am Tuesday at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E Philadelphia St., Armagh. Internment Greenwood Cemetery.
